Churches Find New Ways to Fundraise |

Churches Remember the 80th Anniversary of VE Day |
Churches across the diocese are holding events to mark 80 years since the end of WW2. On Sunday, a service was held on Silchester village green, hosted by St Mary the Virgin and the local Methodist Chapel, with music led by Tadley Concert Brass. Today, many churches are holding acts of remembrance including bell ringing and lighting beacons. Do send in your photos and stories which we will share in next week's newsletter. |

To give a better understanding of how we can support communities across the diocese, we're sharing a bit of information about each of the diocesan teams! The Mission and Ministry Team provide theological training, equipping and support for individuals and groups across our diocese, including in the vocations process, those looking towards ordination, curates in training and those exploring lay ministry. They aim to support all God’s people to grow and develop their individual ministries in their local context through an ongoing programme of training events and workshops, networking meetings and annual celebrations. |

All churches are likely to be impacted by the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, also known as Martyn’s law, which received Royal Assent in April. We recently received news that Revd Derek Burden, who served as a lay minister in the Parish of Yateley during his retirement, passed away on 19 April 2025.
His daughter Clare says, "Dad was the vicar at several parishes over his life. He lived for the last 20 or so years in Yateley, Hart. Dad had a rich life and helped so many people through his ministry in each of his parishes. He instigated many projects to support every age group and background. He will be fondly remembered in each parish. He maintained his gentle ways, his faith and love of others to the end."
Revd Derek's celebration of life service will take place on 20 May at 14:30 in St Peter’s Church, Yateley. |
