Church's Free Toy Bonanza Helps People Recycle and Re-use |
|
|
|
|
The Parish of the Resurrection, Alton, have been holding toy bonanzas since 2022, initially in response to the cost of living crisis, and as a way to encourage people to think about reusing as well as recycling. Toys and books are donated by residents, church members and local schools, and families can then come and take what they'd like for free. |

Bishop of Nebbi Visits Linked Church and Local School |

Bishop Pons Ozelle of the Ugandan diocese of Nebbi, recently visited St Peter’s Church, Yateley and Cranford Park CE Primary School. St Peter's has had links to Nebbi for 25 years, with a group of 9 people visiting in 2024.
Bishop Pons, his wife Edna, and two others from Nebbi also visited the local Mothers' Union, other church groups, and the bishop took part in baptisms, confirmations, and the dedication of a new prayer garden at Cranford Park CE Primary School! |

Young People in Dibden Get Involved with Churchyard Care |
The Parish of Dibden relies on volunteers, shared expertise and a lot of dedication, when it comes to looking after three acres of rural churchyard - and the next generation is getting involved too! Two young lads joined the team in wrestling with brambles, digging out weeds, trimming the hedges and conserving vegetation and proved incredibly useful! |

+Philip Preaches French Sermon at the ‘French Church’ |
St Julian's Church in Southampton has held French language services from the sixteenth century, when it became a place of worship for refugees from France and the Channel Islands. On Sunday, Bishop Philip continued this tradition, giving his sermon, which was on the theme of different ways of understanding, in French! |

Creatures from Land, Sea and Sky Available to Churches |
The beautiful art installation hanging in Winchester Cathedral, created by school children in our diocese, will be taken down at the start of September. Any churches who wish to use these hangings in their Creationtide celebrations, or for decoration or creative prayers, please get in touch with Jeff Williams, our diocesan Director of Education, by 1 September. These will be distributed on a first come, first served, basis. |

Launch of the ChurchWorks Family Hubs Toolkit |
Last month, ChurchWorks launched their Family Hubs Toolkit, which offers templates, tools, case studies and guidance to help local churches set up 'Family Hubs' in their communities, in partnership with local authorities and other organisations. |

Holiday clubs and activities can play a large part of the Church's aim of growing younger. Our diocesan team would love to pray for church holiday clubs, lunch clubs, and family activity days across the diocese - email Elena Taraban with details of your club or activity to be included in our prayers. |

Feedback on Clergy Expenses Survey |
Clergy are invited to provide feedback of the Parochial Expenses of the Clergy 2017 booklet, which is under review. The survey shouldn't take more than five minutes to complete, and can help shape the process for claiming working expenses. |

Benefact Group Charity Heroes Awards 2025 |
Churches may be eligible to enter into the Benefact Group Charity Heroes Awards, which celebrate outstanding charities that work tirelessly to create positive change, in areas such as climate action, adversity, and fundraising. |

Small and Medium Grants from National Churches Trust |
National Churches Trust provide small and medium grants to support urgent maintenance and repair issues, to carry out small investigative works, and for project development work. The deadline to apply for small and medium grants is 12 August 2025. |

A training day for all churchwardens to help you to feel equipped to undertake your duties, to know where to go for further support, advice and resources, and help you gain a greater understanding of the missional context of the diocese and the wider challenges of the Church of England.
