Unsung Heroes of our Churches Honoured in Southampton |

‘Unsung heroes’ from churches across Southampton have been honoured in a special reception hosted by Bishop Rhiannon and the Lord Mayor of Southampton. Bishop Rhiannon said, “It was beautiful to be in a room with all these clergy who were over the moon to celebrate some of the people in their churches who have done wonderful things for many years." |

Colden Common Choir Brings Fun, Friendship and Funds |

Born from an idea during lockdown, the Colden Common Choir is now a community of around 50 people, coming together to sing and raise money for good causes, recently donating £1.1k to Mountbatten Hampshire hospice. Revd Damon Draisey said that the choir has meant that the church is "trying to live the gospel out and say to people: you've got a place to come and belong." |

Motor Bikers' Service at South Baddesley Church |
St Mary’s Church, South Baddesley, held their first 'Blessing of the Bikes' service on 31 August - the riders of fifteen bikes attended the outdoor service, making up a congregation of around seventy. Revd Simon Newham led a moving service, blessing the bikes before everyone was treated to a BBQ generously provided by the St Mary's congregation! |

Sholing Awarded National Lottery Grant |
St Mary’s Church Sholing has been awarded almost £250K from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to deliver a project to benefit the church building and the community heritage it represents. The works will include the installation of a new environmentally sensitive heating system, the creation of a more accessible and welcoming space with new facilities & the introduction of interactive digital displays. On 15 September, Revd PJ Brombley was licensed as the new Vicar of St Francis Valley Park. He said, “I have always been passionate about seeing people come to faith, and church grow in number and in depth. We are looking forward to joining in with what God is already doing here and help lead where God is taking us next. We’d love your prayers as we as a family settle, as our children start new schools and make new friends and that we’ll see God do amazing things in Valley Park." |

On 16 September, Revd Jon Westall was licensed as the new Rector of Milton. He said, “I’m feeling excited by the opportunity to be part of the parish as we seek to serve the local community and proclaim and share the love of Christ. I’m looking forward to living in the community, getting to know the local area and enjoying God’s creation in the New Forest." |

It is with sadness that we share the news that Revd Stuart Goddard died unexpectedly but peacefully at home on 22nd August. Stuart had PTO in our diocese and served faithfully through the Clerical Registry. His wife Pam, 5 children and 8 grandchildren all mourn his loss, thankful that he has run his race well and is now held safely in God's loving care. His funeral and thanksgiving service will be held on 26th September at St James by the Park Shirley, Southampton where he was a member. |
