Open the Book Storytellers Help Children Hear God’s Word |

|
Open the Book is a project introduced by the Bible Society, where trained volunteers from local churches take God’s message into primary schools using stories, drama and songs. The team at St Mark's Church in Highcliffe visit their local primary school once a week, presenting stories to around 150 children, bringing them a deeper understanding of the Bible. |

Lay Ministry Celebration Day |
This annual event is a day to celebrate and bless the work of lay ministers across our diocese, people who use their gifts and callings to serve others. Charlotte Ryton, LLM in the Arle Valley Benefice, said, “God wanted me to be an LMM. I thought I'd just sit quietly in a pew and God said, ‘No, you're going to do some work’." |

Chatting Faith Goes National! |
After two years of running Chatting Faith, with over two hundred families benefitting from resources and conversations, we're delighted to announce that the national church is going to roll-out Chatting Faith for all dioceses to use! This autumn, Jeff, our Director of Education and Jane, our RE & Children’s Spirituality Lead, will be leading a series of national webinars and workshops - what encouraging news! |

Thy Kingdom Come 2025 Starts Next Week |
|
|
|
This year, between 29 May and 8 June, we're celebrating the 10th year of Thy Kingdom Come, a global ecumenical prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray from Ascension to Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus.
All of the usual resources and videos, such as prayer journals, youth resources, and a novena will be available, as well as some special anniversary content! Our senior leadership team will also be sharing reflections on prayer throughout Thy Kingdom Come - watch this space!

House of Bishops Statement on Gaza |
The House of Bishops, which has been meeting in York this week, has issued a statement on the situation in Gaza, which opens with: "we cry out in protest at the death, destruction and suffering that men, women and children have endured in Gaza, Israel and the region these last 20 months. We abhor war in all its forms and see it as a sign of human brokenness." |

Enhanced Clergy Pensions to Support Wellbeing |
It has been announced today that General Synod will be voting on proposals to increase future pension benefits for existing and future clergy pensioners. They include restoring the target pension level to two-thirds of pensionable stipend, coupled with an increase to pensions that have come into payment since 2011. |
